Happy Hospitality Graduates living the dream!!!

I just received the best news ever!!! I got a phone call from the GM of another property and they want me to start next week. This is a 226 room property so I think I can handle it!!!! I was also selected by the Regional Manager of Columbia Sussex to take the position who also works from this property. You don’t know how excited I am!! And another thing is the money is incredible, triple the amount on what I was getting back in Australia.

I love the people that I work with over here, and I am really enjoying my time here. The internship is going well. I have finally gotten into a routine at work where I feel that I am more valuable. I have the next 2 days off so I'm sure I'll be spending some of that time at a pub somewhere in San Diego! The only thing is I can't stand American Beer and the only Aussie beer that they have over here is Fosters!

I started out at the Milwaukee Marriott West in Wisconsin, in Feb 03, and now I am at the Airport Marriott in Minneapolis, MN. I completed Year 11 in 1987, and then went on to work in retail and eventually hospitality. Working in this type of environment was great for traveling so I drove half way around Australia (west) and back to a small place on the Nullabour, which I called home for about 12 months.
While I was there I was promoted to a management position and I started a Tourism course on-line from the Curtin University in Western Australia. It was while I was working that I noticed on the Internet, the services and traineeships that were being offered by Global Recruitment in the USA, so I applied and here I am on my way to an amazing career!
It was such an easy process and I would recommend your services to everyone, as it really was one of the best moves I have ever made. The USA is amazing and I know I could not have been exposed to this experience anywhere else. Thanks for all your help!

Working in the States was such an awesome experience and once in a lifetime opportunity and if given the opportunity again I would do it all over again.
There were fears at first but once I got there fears went out the window. There was so many people from other countries that you instantly bonded with everyone. My issue was that I was a little older than everyone but that did not matter.
Working in America there are so many opportunities, In my experience you could work in Australia for years and years and never succeed the difference with America there was always an opportunity to move forward. I started at Front desk and was there for 6months before another opportunity in catering and events came up. What I loved about it, if you worked hard you were appreciated and there was plenty of room to move and opportunities to succeed in your career.
I'd say to anyone to go for it and do it, in fact I would love to do it all over again even at 35, cause I know it wouldn't take long to move up in the ranks.
